Mohammad Kashem: Where Kindness Never Feels Routine

Mohammad Kashem’s journey with Gracelight began in 2015, when he first came to our East 3rd Street clinic to manage hypertension and kidney disease caused by diabetes. What started as a visit for medical support soon became something more—a trusted relationship with his provider, Dr. Pham, and a sense of belonging he hadn’t expected.

Now 71, Mr. Kashem reflects on how meaningful those years have been. He and his wife moved to Los Angeles from India in search of better opportunities and a better life. Finding care they could trust became an important part of that journey.

“The kindness here stands out,” he said. “Since the first time I came, I’ve always been welcomed with a smile.”

Gracelight became such an important part of his life that he brought his wife and son under Dr. Pham’s care as well. His wife, who is treated for hypertension, visits the clinic every three months. She says she always feels happy coming in, and her health has continued to improve. The guidance she’s received has helped her feel more confident and more joyful in her day-to-day life. It’s not just the medical care that keeps them coming back. It’s the comfort of walking into a welcoming space and receiving care that feels personal, meaningful, and connected to one of the most important parts of their lives — their health.
