Los Angeles is a fast-paced city, and sometimes it can be a challenge to really connect with people. In a place where everything moves so quickly, friendliness and kindness are often overlooked. Here at Gracelight Community Health, those qualities come naturally to our team—not just in how we care for our patients, but in how we support one another. Visiting a doctor or dentist can be stressful and even a little intimidating. We start worrying about our health, and then immediately wonder, “How am I going to pay for this?” What sets Gracelight apart is the welcoming, comforting atmosphere our staff has created. We want our patients to feel at ease while they take care of their health.
Kevin Castillo is a 27-year-old CPA who has been a dental patient at Gracelight for over a year and a half. Originally from Guatemala, Kevin moved to the U.S. at the age of 14, taught himself English, and put himself through school. He graduated from Cal State LA with a degree in Accounting and Finance, and now he’s in the process of starting his own accounting firm.
Over the past year, Kevin has built a friendly, supportive relationship with Carlos Quiñonez, one of Gracelight’s registered dental hygienists. Both Kevin and Carlos grew up in the East LA area, and now they’re both giving back to their community through their respective professions. Gracelight not only focuses on patient care but also helps foster these kinds of connections within the local community. Kevin and Carlos’ bond is a great example of this. They both grew up in East LA, and now they’re giving back to that same community. Gracelight has been part of their journeys, both in health and in their careers.
Carlos, who works at our East 3rd St. location, introduced Kevin to the Gracelight team, and we’re so glad he did because Kevin’s story is truly inspiring. Their relationship shows just how friendly, outgoing, and community-focused our dentistry team is at East 3rd.

Kevin says he’s always been impressed with how efficient and smooth his dental appointments are. “The process is always quick and easy,” he shares. But more than that, Gracelight has helped him take charge of his health. “They keep me informed about what I need to do to stay healthy,” he says, grateful for the ongoing support.
From teaching himself English to putting himself through school and becoming a CPA, Kevin’s story is one of perseverance.
It’s been a honor that Gracelight has been there, helping him stay healthy and focused on his personal and professional growth over the last year.
What Kevin appreciates most about Gracelight is the sense of family. “The staff is so friendly, and feels like family,” he says. That sense of community, combined with excellent care, keeps him coming back. Gracelight has been a key part of his health journey, just as it has supported Carlos in his career.
When asked to describe the Gracelight staff in one word, Kevin didn’t hesitate— “family.” It’s that feeling of belonging, along with our team’s commitment to connecting with patients from the surrounding community, that has made Gracelight such an important part of Kevin’s journey—both in health and in life. Kevin’s story is just one example of how Gracelight makes a difference in people’s lives. Whether it’s through routine care or simply offering a warm, welcoming environment, we’re more than a healthcare provider—we’re a source of support for our patients as they navigate their health and their lives.
