Africa Castro moved to Los Angeles just over two years ago, looking for healthcare where she felt genuinely supported and seen as more than a number. Originally from the Philippines, Africa lived in Italy before making her way to Southern California. Not long after settling in, she found Gracelight Community Health, and she’s been receiving care with us ever since.
Now two years into her visits at our Echo Park clinic, Africa says her experience has been consistently positive. “I’m really thankful for the dental team,” she shared with a warm smile. “They’ve treated me like family, not just another patient walking in.”
Her provider, Dr. Connie Pasco, along with dental assistants Lorena and Esmeralda, have made her feel comfortable and cared for every step of the way. “They’re always so kind and accommodating,” Africa said.
One of the things she values most is our Saturday dental services at Echo Park. She sometimes has a busy schedule during the week, and these weekend appointments have helped her stay on top of her dental health without feeling rushed or stressed. “Even on Saturdays, everyone shows up with a good attitude. I never feel like I’m getting less care just because it’s the weekend. They treat me the same every time I come in.”
Africa also visits our optometry department, where Dr. Allenbaugh has helped improve her vision. “My eyesight has gotten better,” she said, “and I feel more confident.”
During our conversation, Africa was smiling and laughing. Her energy made it clear that the care she’s received has had a meaningful impact. From dental to vision, Gracelight has helped her feel supported and regain her confidence.
