GRANT HELPS LA HEALTH NON-PROFIT WITH COVID-19 TESTING FOR LA COMMUNITY

Gracelight Community Health Receives $187K Grant from Direct Relief and Abbott Laboratories to Setup and Provide Series of COVID-19 Testing

LOS ANGELES, August 19, 2020 – The COVID-19 pandemic has brought the national and local economy to a halt, with the only hope of less people impacted by the dangerous virus. As part of the efforts to identify and isolate new COVID-19 cases, Gracelight Community Health (QHC) is happy to announce they were the recipient of a $187,500 grant from Direct Relief and Abbott Laboratories to perform COVID-19 testing.

“The COVID-19 virus has forced much of Los Angeles and the world to stop work and follow local shelter-in-place orders. We’re fortunate to have received this grant for the important testing that needs to happen locally so Angelenos can get back to living a more normal life,” said Eloisa Perard, President and Chief Administrative Officer of Gracelight Community Health. QHC’s COVID-19 testing program is being made possible through a grant from Direct Relief and Abbot Laboratories. The grant will allow QHC to provide significant community access for testing at their Westlake North Community Health Center, identifying positive coronavirus cases and directing these people to quarantine at home and notifying those around them that may have been exposed to the COVID-19 virus.

The goal of the Direct Relief and Abbott Laboratories grant is designed to provide additional testing locations and opportunities for the Los Angeles community, removing some of the burden from local hospitals. The grant funds will pay for staff time at the testing events, necessary personal protective equipment to keep staff safe. The program will also provide the community with educational materials about COVID-19, directing people about safe social distancing procedures, early symptoms of the virus and the best way for people to protect themselves against transmission.
