Meet the 2025 Gracelight Residency Cohort

Our inaugural group of Residents come from communities around the country and are eager to learn from and serve the Los Angeles community.

Ping He, MD | PGY-2

Quality Initiatives and Scholarly Officer

Dr. He brings a strong blend of clinical skills, academic insight, and a passion for teaching to his role as a PGY-2 resident at Gracelight Community Health. Before joining the program, he completed his family medicine internship at LECOM Health Center in Pennsylvania and spent five years shaping the next generation of physicians as a professor at LECOM.

With both an M.D. and a Ph.D., Dr. He has built an impressive foundation in translational research across academic and industry settings. His curiosity and drive to connect science with patient care have shaped his approach to medicine and patient care. He’s excited to continue growing as a physician while making a meaningful impact on the community.

Arsal Kamran, MD | PGY-1

Curriculum Officer

Dr. Arsal Kamran joins Gracelight Community Health as a PGY-1 resident with a passion for primary care and community engagement. Born and raised in Islamabad, Pakistan, his path toward medicine was inspired early on by watching his grandparents build meaningful connections with patients in their family clinic.

While in medical school, Dr. Kamran expanded on this foundation through public outreach efforts in underserved areas, solidifying his commitment to accessible, compassionate care. Now based in Los Angeles, he’s excited to begin his journey in family medicine and grow as both a clinician and community advocate.

Daniel Obermiller, MD | PGY-1

Advocacy Officer

Dr. Daniel Obermiller joins Gracelight Community Health as a PGY-1 resident with a genuine passion for hands-on, patient-centered care. Born and raised in Minnesota, his path to medicine took shape after college when he began working as a scribe under a physician mentor in the Mayo Clinic system. Recognizing Daniel’s dedication and strong ethical foundation, his mentor encouraged him to pursue medical school.

Dr. Obermiller attended the University of Medicine and Health Sciences (UMHS), where he trained with mentors and preceptors across the country, gaining a wide range of clinical experiences. His diverse exposure helped shape his interests in clinical procedures, emergency care, sleep medicine, geriatrics, and behavioral health. He is excited to begin this new chapter in Los Angeles and looks forward to serving the community with compassion, skill, and integrity.
